Final Fantasy XII, released back in 2006 for the Playstation 2, introduced us us to a broad mix of old and new game elements combined with a combat system unlike any seen before in a single player Final Fantasy. As a Final Fantasy fan since the original, and no stranger to new game mechanics, I was taken aback by the new style, but reassured with old school mechanics. It'd been years since I'd seen my old friend the AERO spell! Better yet, FFXII was set in the world of Ivalice, a world I hadn't stepped foot in since Final Fantasy Tactics. Today, Playstation posted the following announcement on their YouTube channel: After over ten years, Square-Enix is releasing an HD version of Final Fantasy XII. The excitement here is due to the fact that FFXII hasn't be re-released like some of the other games. Most Final Fantasy games are playable on other platforms or are available through the Playstation Network. Final Fantasy XII has remained locked in emulators and its debut console since its release.
Until 2017, when it finally comes to the PS4! I hope I'm not the only excited to see Gilgamesh in HD!
