My thoughts collect and conspire against me. Writing them down is a way to organize them and make sense of them. Telling stories is often a huge part of this because half of the thoughts collecting in the inner reaches of my brain are...well...of the epic fantasy variety.
I love magic and mystery. I love the possibility of other worlds, and I love the ability to twist and bend laws of physics in ways we can only imagine on our humble Earth. I love flawed characters, righteous characters, and though I know evil exists in the world, good exists, too. Not always are the lines between the two distinct. But that's where I come in to create and maintain, but also to let my characters, both sinister and average, to figure out the world created in my mind. I am their Archon...the Archon of Write. This alter-ego has his own name... Jon Carlin Shea. This is the name I use to share my fantasy worlds with the world!
I began writing in grade school, spurred on by many great teachers. I wrote my first book at the age of fourteen, and though it was a tragic endeavor, I learned from it and came to realize how important writing was for. I studied literature and writing in college, and today, I use my knowledge to expand upon all the lessons I've learned. In the winter of 2013, I published my first book, Spirit Summoner, through Wild Child Publishing, the first book in a series called The Chosen of the Light. I might not be writing full-time, but I dream of the day it can become a possibility...much like I once dreamed of publishing my first book.
As of January 1, 2017, Wild Child Publishing has closed, and I have decided to complete this series of books by self-publishing. All three books in the series will have been proofed and edited by the same editor, S.R. Howen.
My wife, Jenniffer, who is a marketing wizard, has helped me out along the way. You can ask her to help you, too, through her business, Chatterbox Promotions. I also have one child, Jacobi. He is and will be an only child, not because we couldn't handle it, but because let's face it, the world is slightly overcrowded. Jenn and I love having him around, and we both hope he will make some sort of awesome contribution to the world. His hobbies include singing, saying "no", taking baths, and *ahem* reading.
My own personal hobbies include playing video games, reading comic books, and watching movies. Also, I do lousy impressions of Kermit the Frog, Yoda, Christopher Walken, and Tom Segura's Valley Girl. I cannot throw a baseball with the correct foot leading.
